Bleach and FullMetal Alchemist are both action-packed animes, featuring a spunky male lead who combats evil and, in general, plays the hero, all the while sporting a fairly combative attitude. While they put up a tough front, both have a sensitive side, and are very caring and willing to defend the weak and fight for justice. Although Alchemy and Shinigami abilities are very different, they have that same element of fantasy. The plots in each are larger than one would give them credit for in the beginning. As the plots slowly unfold, the battles are becoming more intense, and manage to hold the viewers’ attention.

In addition, there are a lot of crazy and wacky side characters who lighten up the mood of otherwise dark stories. They are both very well written, jumping between light and dark moments with a re-evaluation of whether the enemies are actually evil or just victims. The anagonists are very mysterious, yet likable characters and appear to be an unbeatable force. It is up to the protagonist and their friends to try and beat them, while they both fight with a hidden power within themselves.

5. Buso Renkin

Naruto and Bleach are two vastly different animes, yet at the same time they are amazingly similar. Both series are about a boy with vast powers that at times they don’t understand, looming in the background and threatening to overtake them if they don’t gain control. Though the plots start a bit slow, each soon dives head first into action through story arcs that build and affect the character development. The characters are easy to relate to, plus they all have emotions and their own uniqueness. Another trait that both share is the comedic aspect that is often present. Both are serious at the right times and full of stunning plot twists and turns. The fight scenes are amazing, full of action, and unique in every battle.
