Short introduction to Jujutsu Kaisen
Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
10. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba

Description: Bloodthirsty demons lurk in the woods, and nobody dares to venture out at night, save for the demon slayer of legend. Surviving in this harsh world, young Tanjirou takes it upon himself to protect his family–until the day that everything is taken from him in a vicious slaughter. Now, all he has left is his sister, and she’s not even human anymore.
Number of Episodes: 26
Release Year: 2019-?
Both are shonen anime, so they’re pretty easy to compare from the start. Both have excellent animation and choreographed fight scenes, the main characters are fairly likeable. The plot for Demon Slayer is more compelling to me but both are pretty strong. A bonus for me is neither really has the stereotypical pervy side character. If you like one, you’ll almost certainly like the other.
9. Noragami

Description: Yato, the supposed God of Calamity, is so far down on the Shinto totem pole that he doesn’t even have any followers or a shrine to call his own and has to do odd jobs to make ends meet. Worst of all, his aloof and somewhat goofy personality has just cost him his newest partner and best holy weapon. When the down-on-his-luck Yato is saved by an unfortunate soul called Hiyori, he’s forced to take on a brand new job – to turn her back into a human and fix her supernatural out-of-body experiences! Can Yato, a Regalia-less, miserly minor god, even attempt such a tall order? And is there more to him than his ridiculousness lets on?
Number of Episodes: 12
Release Year: 2014-?
Jujutsu Kaisen and Noragami are both stories about demons needing to be exorcised. These stories are about the people that work to exorcise them while putting themselves in danger to destroy the demons that humans create. Both stories have very lovable characters and great animation and tell very moving stories.

Can Shinji gain the courage to face the parasites and protect humanity? And would it even make a difference if he did?

Both series feature a protagonist whose body is taken over by something inhuman. These creatures’ mouths and eyeballs appear on the protagonist’s bodies, which is just one of many gory elements in both shows.

Vengeful spirits known as Hollows roam the world in search of devouring souls, and Shinigami – soul reapers – work tirelessly to defeat them and guide normal ghosts into a place called Soul Society. Ichigo valiantly fights the Hollow that threatens his sisters, but on the verge of defeat a Shinigami named Rukia gives him her powers, turning him into a Shinigami himself. If you like supernatural, occultist, spiritual shounen with ghosts and high action fights, you’ll probably enjoy both of these anime.
Yu Yu Hakusho is about a boy named Yusuke Urameshi who dies and takes on the role of a spirit detective who fights ghosts and solves crimes for the Spirit World (an otherworld government)
Jujutsu Kaisen is about a boy named Itadori Yuuji who is sentenced to death row by the higher ups of Jujutsu High (a organization dedicated to training and developing Jujutsu Sourcerers, supernatural disciples trained to exorcise curses) due to the remnants of an ancient evil spirit curse residing within him.
These are of course very simplied versions of their respective plots, however, many of the themes, battles, and systems play out in similar fashions. If you enjoy horror, comradery, high stakes fights, comedy, and intensive character story telling all wrapped into one tight bow, both of these shows are for you. I cannot with an honest conscious say I could see a person enjoying one and not being fond of the other. If you’re a fan of either i definitely recommend checking out the other.
