It’s not like they are similar, especially if it’s about characters, but both anime have a bit similar plot. They future a prince/king on the run, fighting for their life. Both of them meet powerful warrior who is also a commoner.Kingdom is a lot more mature and violent, but i have a feeling that you will like the other one if you already watched one of them.

Number of Episodes: 33

Release Year: 2015 – 2016

In Kingdom the second main character(the king/prince) aims to reclaim his throne and establish a better kingdom, and it’s  the same in Arslan. Though in Arslan it will probably take the whole series to do this, when in Kingdom they move onto Xin’s dream of being a general.

They also both contain some battle strategies and battles. It’s kindom’s main focus and is on a grand scale, and in Arslan it’s till present within large-small scale battles.

This is a small similarity (both supporting roles), but Falagies and Qiang Lei both know how to hold their own on a battlefield and aren’t outwardly clingly/obsessed with the main character, which is something we don’t always see within female characters in Anime.

7. Berserk

Can Guts, a simple warrior, defend those who have come to mean the most to him, all the while struggling not to lose to the darkness he has carried with him his entire life?

Number of Episodes: 25

Release Year: 1997 – 1998

Both animes are feudal. Both animes have two main male protoganists  that have similar contrasting characters. Gutz (Berserk) is similar in personality to Xin (Kingdom), being strong, aggresive to the point of volatile, and sees the world in slighly simple terms. This personality type serves as a counter point  Piao/Zheng (Kingdom) and Griffith (Berserk), being the more calm, always thinking type. Both animes also involve the teaming up of these two contrasting male-leads in an effort to obtain a kingdom. However these animes are not in the same ‘class’. Kingdom thus far does not share Berserks depth or more adult method of story telling.

The moment when an archer boy and the silver-haired beautiful war maiden meet, it is the beginning for the legend of a hero that will be told for generations to come.

Number of Episodes: 13

Release Year: 2014

Both of thwese shows are brilliant. The hero is Lord Marksman and Vanadis is Lord Tigre, an expert marksman and a count of the land of Alsice. He only wants peace for his people, but he is pulled into a desperate fight for survival and for good. In Kingdom, the hero is Xin, a slave that earned his freedom by rescuing the rightful ruler of of the state of Qin and has aspirations of becoming the greatest general under the heavens.

Both shows have intelligent story-lines that keep you on your toes and guessing as to who might win out in the end. Although, everyone knows the hero’s always come out on top.

They have a very similar kind of story-line. Both are big in tactics & strategies, showing how they work both from a general’s point of view and the soldier’s perspective. Both show very well the hardships, atrocities, and insanity of war. Both have great battles and are not shy from showing the violence, gore, and emotional impact of war.
