Short introduction to Steins;Gate
The eccentric mad scientist Okabe, his childhood friend Mayuri, and the otaku hacker Daru have banded together to form the Future Gadget Research Laboratory, and spend their days in a ramshackle laboratory hanging out and occasionally attempting to invent incredible, yet generally useless, futuristic gadgets. However, their claymore is a hydrator and their hair dryer flips breakers, and the only invention that’s even remotely interesting is their Phone Microwave, which transforms bananas into oozing green gel. But when an experiment goes awry the gang discovers that the Phone Microwave can also send text messages to the past. And what’s more, the words they send can affect the flow of time and have unforeseen, far-reaching consequences…
10. ERASED
Description: Satoru Fujinuma is a reclusive part-timer with no plans for the future. What sets him apart from the other slackers in his town is an involuntary time travel ability that allows him to jump back several seconds in time in order to prevent accidents and even deaths. As incidents around town begin reminding Satoru of a childhood trauma he’d sooner forget, he finally begins to question what caused his ability to surface and whether or not it’s powerful enough to change the past.

Both have a focus on time travel and using it to save people, which has its consequences. As of writing this ERASED only has one episode out, so it’s hard to tell if there will be more similarities to come, but from just the first episode I knew that this show had the potential to become as great as Steins;Gate.
9. Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-
Description: Natsuki Subaru, an ordinary high school student, is on his way home from the convenience store when he finds himself transported to another world. As he’s lost and confused in a new world where he doesn’t even know left from right, the only person to reach out to him was a beautiful girl with silver hair. Determined to repay her somehow for saving him from his own despair, Subaru agrees to help the girl find something she’s looking for…

Re:Zero and Steins;Gate featured an Main Character with similiar power: time travel. And the ‘time travel’ aspect of these series isn’t just some cool sci-fi material, it has a little dark element attached to it: ‘death’. Both Main Character tried to save people around them from the hand of the reaper, they also touched upon the psychological aspect of the Main Character as the only one who remember the events from before the timeline is altered. Also, both series are produced by the same studio and have fantastic, fluid animation. They both seem to have their funny, relaxing moments and their more dramatic and intense ones.
8. Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Description: One night, Madoka has a terrible nightmare – against the backdrop of a desolate landscape, she watches a magical girl battle a terrifying creature, and lose. The next day, the teen’s dream becomes reality when the girl – Homura – arrives at Mitakihara Middle School as a transfer student, mysteriously warning Madoka to stay just the way she is. But when she and her best friend Miki are pulled into a twisted illusion world and meet a magical creature named Kyubey, the pair discovers that magical girls are real, and what’s more, they can choose to become one. All they must do is sign a contract with Kyubey and agree to fight witches that spread despair to the human world, and in return they will be granted a single wish. However, as Homura’s omen suggests, there’s far more to becoming a magical girl than Madoka and Miki realize…

Both deal with hypothetical science, and the characters in both with to use special powers and technology to save people and create a better future. Although Madoka Magica is also fantasy-based, they share extremely similar plot events.
Madoka Magica arguably has more “action” in terms of literal fight scenes, while Steins;Gate focusses more on suspense. Both have “dark” moments, and there are certaninly some slightly terrifying scenes, but Steins;Gate also has some funny moments that provide comic relief without compromising the actual plot; Madoka Magica has more heart-warming, affectionate scenes to establish a balance through the implementation of positive thoughts and emotions.
7. Death Note
Description: Have you ever felt like the world would be a better place if certain people weren’t around? Such grim daydreams might occur when watching the dismal daily news, but on one fateful day, Light Yagami finds that these daydreams can become reality. By pure happenstance, he comes across a black notebook entitled “Death Note”, whose text within states that whoever’s name is written on its pages will die. With the aid of the death god Ryuk, Light takes it upon himself to rid the world of its corruption, ushering in a new era of purity one death at a time. But as Ryuk foretells, Light’s actions will not go unchallenged…

Although Death Note and Steins;Gate have a pretty different atmosphere, they both revolve around a highly intelligent protagonist with a racing mind, attempting to find solutions to problems that have global implications.They are filled with subtleties that further highlight their similarities, if you enjoyed either of these shows I believe that you will enjoy the other.
6. Chaos;HEAd
Description: Takumi is a reclusive otaku who wants nothing more than to be left alone to play online games and watch anime. He only attends the minimum necessary to pass his classes, and rarely leaves his cramped room except to purchase the newest figurines. One evening, while Takumi is chatting online with his friend “Grim,” a stranger called “Shogun” joins the channel and, after “Grim” leaves, posts a series of disturbing photographs depicting a man impaled to a wall with metal stakes. The following day, Takumi is horrified when he wanders into an alley and once again sees Shogun’s images – but this time, the gruesome scene is reality. From then on, Takumi sees the world through a new set of eyes; imaginary delusions meld with reality, and he isn’t sure who he can trust. With suspicions and confusion at every turn, Takumi must struggle to determine what’s going on – but most importantly, whose eyes are those eyes?

Both series take place in the same universe, and to be specific Steins;Gate takes place a year after the incidents in Shibuya. Although, in the anime there aren’t many references, in the game there are a number of times that the NewGen incidents are mentioned.Moreover , both series play an important role in the third anime produced by the same studios and that takes place in the same universe, Robotic;Notes in which there are references and even characters that reappear from Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head.In conclusion, if you loved Steins;Gate and you’re interested to know more about the characters and the world they live in, not to mention to become aware what kind of characters coexist in the same universe, then you ought to watch Chaos;Head.
5. When They Cry: Higurashi
Description: Maebara Keiichi, an ordinary high-school boy, has transferred to a new school in Hinamizawa, a small rural village. At the outset everything seems peaceful and Keiichi becomes friends with a nice group of schoolgirls with whom he spends many idle summer afternoons. Suddenly violence encroaches upon the blissful peace of the village and Keiichi becomes entangled in an endless cycle of fear and death. The inconsistent, but inevitable horrors of Hinamizawa are told and retold becoming an endless and inescapable nightmare of insanity. Will it end even if the mystery of Hinamizawa is solved?

Both shows feature a repetition of similar, but not identical events, as the world and the characters attempt to find a path that isn’t as violent and dark as the one they are in. I feel that both of these shows appeal to similar audiences. They are both dark and psychological,, break the tension occaionally with a bit of humor, and feature the close bonds that form between people, particularly when they go through trials together.
4. Welcome to the NHK!
Description: Tatsuhiro Sato is a university dropout and a “hikikomori” – a person suffering from social withdrawal. To Sato’s dismay, his self-imposed exile from the world is rudely interrupted when a mysterious girl knocks on his door. She has charged herself with the task of curing Sato of his hikikimori ways! Now, as new problems ranging from hentai games to internet suicide spring up, can Sato manage to overcome his hermit-like ways, or will the imaginary N.H.K conspiracy force him to remain a hikikomori forever?

Both are fun slice of life anime with a little spice just the way I like em. Very dark and suspenseful anime but both feature hilarious situations and a great cast of characters. If you like one I’m sure you’ll like the other.
3. Noein: To Your Other Self
Description: When Haruka, Yuu and their friends decided to go ghost hunting, they had no idea the “ghosts” they’d find would turn their lives upside down. Black-clad and wielding quantum powers, these knights from the future are after an artifact of immense power that they hope will save their dimension from destruction: the Dragon Torque; and Haruka seems to be the key. As factions within the knights violently disagree on how to proceed, Haruka and the gang are caught up in a fight with the Shangri La, in an existential battle where fates of entire universes are decided.

The themes of these two shows deal mainly with time travel. Instead of focusing on the actual technology, the story focuses on the relationships between the characters in a world that is changed by the effects of time travel. These are two great sci-fi anime, either would appeal to fans of the other show.
2. Durarara!!
Description: Looking for a change, Mikado moves from the countryside to bustling Ikebukuro to attend the same high school as his best friend, Masaomi. Though navigating a new school and friendships can prove tough by itself, Mikado also finds an overwhelming number of new delights and dangers in the district he now calls home. From a friendly Russian sushi bar to the violent color gangs, to even an urban legend in the form of a black motorcycle rider, each resident of Ikebukuro is unique and frightening. But the town is smaller than it seems at first, and these strange events appear to be connected. Will the growing storm sweep up the transplanted country boy and his friends or will Mikado find himself at the center of a dramatic change for Tokyo?

If you like the suspense and cant get enough of Steins;Gate then you are going to love Durarara!!. Giving a little bit of thought in trying to figure out problems of the characters in Durarara!! makes it similar to Steins;Gate, watching this is something that you wont regret.

Description: Yuki is a disaffected middle school boy who has no dreams or goals in life; in fact, the only thing he has is his diary. Writing down everything he observes and documenting every thought, the young boy uses it as an outlet for his imagination. One morning, however, Yuki wakes up to find his cell phone filled with diary entries for the next ninety days. Thinking nothing of it, he continues his morning until he begins to realize that everything on his phone is rapidly coming to pass, and it isn’t just mere coincidence. In both anime there are characters who know the future and tries to experiment with changing it. They are also experiencing the outcomes of their action in changing the future. Also towards the end of both anime the story turns more and more tense and involving.
